Governing Body - Chairman's Report

MIKE.jpg (9172 bytes) Glenmore celebrated its 40th year this year and it is incredible to think that the school started in 1961 and parents who were pupils then now send their children to the same school. The circle of life continues. To celebrate our 40th year we have decided to upgrade the library and enlarge it. We also intend creating a pupil friendly environment and make use of computer technology and provide at least five pc's in the library for research and internet connections. The work will start early in December 2001 and should be finished by the time school re-opens.

This is our second edition of the yearly magazine on CD Rom and I am sure that it will turn out to be a great success. I think that last year's edition, the first ever attempt on CD, was fantastic. I must thank Mrs. Adams for the tremendous effort she put into making this project a reality.

I am pleased to tell you that we also have an internet web page with information promoting our school on the internet. The address for this can be obtained from the school.

We have been faced with the usual challenges this year, especially with regards to finances. However, I believe that the Governing body along with the dedicated teaching staff have been able to provide your children with the best possible education. I believe we have made maximum use of the resources that we have had available.

We have also done our very best to curb the steady increase in school fees by introducing various cost saving measures. The school will no longer supply text books in the new year and with this cost saving and other financial cutbacks, the increase in school fees should be well below 10 % next year.

I must again thank Mr. Duffield and all the Glenmore staff who have worked so hard looking after our children, and keeping the standard at Glenmore high at all times
