Friends

Friends are always there

Friends will always share

Friends will love and care

But they are very rare

Friends will always help you

Whenever you're in need

Like they helped me yesterday

Whenever I did bleed

Mvuselelo Gcaba - The House of the Living Dead

One gloomy night, I stopped at a dilapidated, weird gate. The house had an eerie, fearful look. It was looming over me. On the roof a vicious stony gargoyle was looking at me mysteriously. I was petrified. I could not stop my legs from quivering. I quickly ran to the door which was full of blood. It had a terrifying skull head on it. Lightning struck the haunted house. I ran inside the house because it had creaked open by itself. The lounge was large and empty, but at the far end of the lounge was a pile of skeletons. There were weird looking pictures on the roof. The stairs were full of dust and spider webs. In the window upstairs there was a silhouette, I was terrified. My legs were quivering so hard that I left the house in an extraordinary way ...I flew through the bushes!

Nonkululeko Makheta - My Letter

I wrote a lovely letter

Which sounded very funny

Each time it got much better

But it cost me too much money

I showed it to my mother

And what a laugh she had

She said, "Write another."

Oh boy! I was so sad.

Jarryd Hunter

In the morning we were playing cards when we heard firing from the west. We saw ten of our soldiers. They had discovered the Zulu hide out, but were running for their lives from thousands of Zulu soldiers, so we got together with our weapons and ammunition and formed lines waiting for Zulu soldiers. When they arrived we started firing at them. The Zulus ducked into the long grass while we fired above them. Then there was an eclipse of the sun which caused it to go dark like it was night. We were running low on ammunition but still kept on firing at them. They got up but got shot, so they ducked in the long grass again. Now we only had a few bullets left so the Zulus got up and charged us. We retreated as quickly as we could and at the same time fixing our bayonets. The Zulus soon caught up to us and started stabbing us with their spears. Two soldiers were ordered to take the flag to safety. they rode away on two horses with the flag. They were killed a while later and the flag floated down the river. Meanwhile I had escaped and was running towards Rorke's Drift. When I reached  Rorke's Drift I told them what had happened in the battle. I told them that about 5000 Zulus were going to come and attack us here at Rorke's Drift. So we built a strong base.

Jasmine Schwartz

I had a friend in the past

And good friends were we

Our fishing lines we would cast

Oh, what fun had she!

As she cast her line one day

Into the water she was pulled

"Oh dear," what was I to say!

"Are you alright?" I called.

I tried to help, to find a way.

But under the water - she would stay.

Gugu Basi - Wildlife

Without wildlife there would be no life

Without the birds singing and the monkeys swinging

Without the chicks chirping and the fish surfing

Without the snakes hissing and the lovebirds kissing

Without the elephants thumping and the kangaroos jumping

Without the cheetahs sprinting and the kittens squinting

There would be no wildlife.

Keshia Munsamy - Friendship

Grass withers, flowers fall

But my love for you will stand tall

You've always had a special way

Of making my heart feel lighter

And times I shared with you

Just seemed a little brighter

That's why you're wished more joy today

Than words could ever show

For you're the kind of person

Who is wonderful to know

My friend.

Onamandla Mathe - Mr. Crane's Belly

Mr. Crane, the world's wierdest teacher,

but has a maternity belly.

It bounces like a basketball,

and rolls and rumbles like jelly.

Mr. Crane is very sweet,

He's just sweet as candy.

Shelley Koekemoer - Haunted House

I was walking home and thought I should go the short cut through the forest. I saw a funny looking house. I walked to the front door and the verandah creaked. I opened the door. I walked into the house and the door slammed shut. I walked and I saw a picture with eyes moving and it was disgusting. Then I walked through the cobwebs. I walked up the creaking stairs. I heard noises in the attic and I heard a noise but nothing was there. I turned around and ran down the stairs and when I ran the bats flew into my face and I screamed so loud. I ran all the way home screaming.

Tina Chetty - My Mum

My mum is the best,

She has her nerves and jitters,

She's better than the rest,

And her smile always glitters.

She's dashing and she's strong,

Although I groan and moan.

It's seldom that she's wrong,

She's the best mum I've known.

Jarryd Hunter - Sharks

The fierce predators of the sea,

Kill their prey with their sharp, white teeth.

If you stay still, they are sure to flee.

They haunt the creatures underneath.

When it comes to the sharks on the rugby field,

they take down any obstacle in their way.

They eat huge, gigantic meals.

If you're in their way, you're sure to pay.

Jasmine Schwartz - Die dag toe alles verkeerd loop

Die partytjie was baie aangenaam, totdat ek my koeldrank probeer drink - dit was 'n bietjie mooilik en natuurlik het ek dit regoor my nuwe rok gemors.
