The U13 Hockey team had mixed fortunes this year. We won approximately 65% of our games. I am pleased with the result though as we play against all the big schools in the Durban league which is arguably the toughest in the country. I was also pleased with the number of new boys who attended practices as this bodes well for the future. Lucky Mshengu was selected for the KZN U14 A team which won the National Tournament. Rohan Adams and Caldon Adams were both selected for the KZN U13 C team and both played well in the Regional Tournament. Our Player of the Year was Caldon Adams. The Most Improved Player was Chase Nymphe. I would like to offer my sincere appreciation to the small and loyal band of parents who offered help and transport. I thank the boys for their gritty, 'never say die' attitude and the passion with which they played the game. Mr. Erwin Hartslief (COACH)

The season started with only half of the team ever having played before. It was a real "baptism of fire" with the boys drawing one game but losing the others resoundingly. This experience opened the teams' eyes to what hockey was all about and initiated an improvement rate that was astounding. After losing 6-0 to Clifton and 1-0 to Manor Gardens, the team was regularly beating Manor Gardens by the end of the season. Clifton remained our nemesis yet even they were humbled on one occasion with Glenmore winning 5-0. Well done team on an excellent season. Congratulations to Matthew O'Connor on being awarded the Most Improved Player and Wesley Koekemoer on being awarded the Most Valuable Player. Mr. Paul Crane (COACH)

The very successful boys under 10 team had a wonderful season this year. The boys played every Friday afternoon at the Dokkies Field, and played on average four games an afternoon. With Reece Nymphe, Jordan Mitchell, Marc Meth and Ricky Schwartz as forwards we attacked our opponents goal mouth constantly. Our solid midfield, Cameron Nosworthy, ensured the ball was always driven forward. Stewart Smith, Alvin Matuku and Sean Munien were super defenders. Congratulations to our Most Valuable Player: Reece Nymphe. Our Most Improved Player was Marc Meth. We won 93% of our games. Once again this was a very successful season. The Glenmore team were well known for their strength and determination on the field. Well played boys! Mrs. Charné Adams (COACH)

The hockey season has been an adventurous and exciting season for the girls. Each and every one of the girls that turned up to hockey were all given an opportunity to play at least one game. Mrs. Walker was able to enter three teams. Some girls had the great opportunity of playing on the astroturf. Seven girls were selected to go to the trials for Durban Central, which was very exciting for the girls. Unfortunately only four girls went through to the next stage. Zekhethelo Msiya played for the Durban Central A team, Carmen Botha played for the B team and Anele Kweyama and Luyanda Mthiyane were reserves. Zekhethelo Msiya and Carmen Botha both made Durban Central teams. Well done ! Congratulations to Anele Kweyama who was the Most Improved Player and Zekhethelo Msiya who was the Most Valuable Player. Nolwazi Mwandla was the Most Improved Player in the B team, and Azanda Sithole was the Most Valuable Player in the B team. Tamala Chilalika was the Most Improved Player for the C team, and Nombusa Mfeka was the Most Valuable Player for the C team. We started the year with only a few girls that had played hockey before. We decided to therefore concentrate on our ball skills. Our first day of games left us with 1 loss, 1 win and 1 draw. We were encouraged and continued to work on our ball skills, positioning and discipline on the field. After a season together, the team could proudly say, of the 16 games played, we only lost 4, drew 2 and won 10. Well done ladies. Most of the girls should remain in the age group for next year, so we should have a strong team to start the season. Mrs Tracy Bosch (COACH)

Amanda Hlengwa (MVP) and Claire Gueit (MIP) - Under 10 Girls Report by Amanda Hlengwa - Grade 4 The under 10 girls played extremely well in all their games. They had a lot of enthusiasm. The girls won two matches, lost one and drew one. While we practiced on our school field we learnt that we must be a team. Mrs. Toy was a great coach.

What a really big group we had this season. There were mixed abilities and the older set were very dedicated and enthusiastic just to play the game. Although we never played any matches with other schools our practices were hard work. The Grade 3's played the field effortlessly and put into practice all that they had learnt. The Grade 1's learnt the basics from scratch and had to keep on not pushing and holding their sticks up in the air. Our groups learnt that skills are acquired and improve with time. Their commitment to the coaching sessions was impressive. Well done to the little ones who attended. Our Most Valuable Player was Declan O'Connor. Congratulations. Mrs. Lucille Le Brasse
