Grade
1 M - swimming with Mrs. Murrell during a P.E. lesson. Report
by Mrs. Jenny Heathman (H.O.D. - Junior Primary) It is
hard to believe another year has past since the last school magazine was
published. Once again we have had a very busy and challenging year with many
highlights. Mrs. Erwee in grade 0 had a full class of 22
learners this year and was lucky to have the assistance of Mrs. Liz Kay on a
voluntary basis from half way through the year. Mrs. Erwee's baby, Cavan,
decided to make an early arrival and Mrs. Richards and Mrs. Kay very ably took
over the class while she was away. The Grade 0 learners have all progressed well
and are ready for the challenge of "big" school. The
Grade 1 classes have also enjoyed a year of fun and learning. We have been
fortunate to have the assistance of Mrs. Heather Allan and Mrs. Nicole
McConnachie in these classes. With Mrs. Handley taking a year off on maternity
leave, we had Mrs. Toy and Miss Michelle Carter teaching in Grade 2 and Mrs. Le
Brasse guiding the grade 2 team. Once again Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Govender have
kept the Grade 3 classes busy preparing them for the next phase of schooling. All
the Junior Primary children have participated in an hours computer lesson a week
with Mrs. Bosch. The highlight of the year was definitely the
production to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the school. Every learner
participated in this show and for many it was a first time on the stage. There
were many butterflies and much excitement before the first performance. Everyone
performed to the best of their ability and hopefully will remember their part
for many years to come. Junior Primary Events Once
again all the learners participated in the Gala in the first term and the
Athletics meeting in the third term. The children also enjoyed the Dog Handling
display in the second term and were amazed at the obedience and discipline shown
by the dogs. In
the third term we all visited the Central Fire Station and were also entertained
by the Flying Fish Company in a show. Many hours were spent preparing Art and
Craft items for the successful Art Auction also held in the third term.
Beside
the main functions of the year the learners have also had puppet shows, music
and dance shows, excursions and visitors to the school to enhance their
education on all levels. We always have wonderful support from
Mrs. Mackie and Mrs. Parsons in the office, and of course Mr. Duffield, our
Principal. Thank you to you all for your efficiency and understanding. As
we come to the end of another full and exciting year I would like to wish all
the learners, teachers and parents of Glenmore a happy and prosperous 2002.
