Public speaking was for the grade 7s only. It was meant to help us with our speaking in public. We were taught how to speak with enthusiasm and confidence. With the help of Mr. Duffield and Mrs. Walker we were ready to speak in front of a huge audience. Public speaking was also there to help us with our English orals and we all ended up with some pretty good marks and we owe it to Mrs. Walker and Mr. Duffield.

Public speaking has taught me to "get off the nail" and "climb out of my box". A whole new range of opportunities for me. e.g. allowing me to say my speech on friendship at Prize Giving. It showed me that being shy and afraid doesn't do ANYTHING for you. You have to do what you have to do!

We did fun activities, giving demonstrations and speeches on our hobbies and sports and many other things. We did the "Duke of York" activity. Try it out:

Try this it will make you feel better.

This year the grade 7 public speakers were rearing to go. And there was such a good attendance, two classes had to be held! Instead of having an outsider take us, Mr. Duffield and Mrs. Walker took up the challenge to take the eager grade 7s.

There were so many fun activities. A memorable activity was the "I love the king" where we cried out our love to the snooty king! At our weekly gatherings we presented our speeches and the grade 7s voted for the best speech. The winner won a slab of chocolate. The speakers chosen to perform this year at Prize Giving were Mbali, Nicole and Daniel S. Well done to all the grade 7 speakers.
