The soccer team started the season with a lot of promise - sporting good individual talent. They failed however, to come together as a team and only achieved this on their last two games. It was good to see them realizing that soccer is not a one man game.

Report by Mr. K. Pillay

Yet another year has gone by and once again our under 10, 11 and 13 learners pitted their skills against that of learners from neighbouring schools. At matches, while learners try to emulate their soccer idols and outwit their opponents, it is also a means of trying out their skills and strategies learnt in their practice sessions. It is also an opportunity for our learners to interact with learners from other schools. Our normally placid soccer field is transformed into a hive of activity and is brought alive by the cheering and support of spectators. While being competitive our learners learn the meaning of sportsmanship. The camaraderie that exists between players, within the teams and also between the different divisions is truly magnificent.

My message to our future soccer stars is:

"The spirit in which you participate is more important than winning."

We have been very privileged this year to have Brett Walker and Justin Humphrey coach our mini soccer teams. It has been wonderful to see the boys learn how to handle the ball and learn team skills. Most of the boys have had a turn being selected to play in a Glenmore team against other schools where all their skills have been put to the test.

I am very proud of these teams. They have done well and have learnt to show good sportsmanship both when winning and losing. Well done boys ! Our Most Valuable Player was Cameron Wayman and our Most Improved Player was Tony Simonit. Congratulations.
