Softball Report We have once again had a fantastic softball season this year. We entered two boys teams and two girls teams into the various under 13 leagues. The boys played every Friday afternoon and the girls played every Saturday morning of most of the third and fourth terms. The learners showed great determination and enthusiasm. They demonstrated their teachable natures by improving with every game. This was evident in the fact that the Boys A Team AND the Girls A team won their respective leagues this year. CONGRATULATIONS! A special well done to the following learners who were selected to represent KwaZulu Natal U13 Softball at the Inter Provincial Tournament in December: Back Row: Luyanda Mthiyane, Adam Gouws, Rohan Adams, Lwazi Xaba Front Row: Zekhethelo Msiya, Vukile Dlamini, Caldon Adams, Anele Kweyama A special congratulations go to Rohan and Caldon Adams on being selected for the South African U13 Boys All Stars team as pitch and catch respectively. They will represent South Africa at the Under 16 Tournament to be held in September 2002.
LOVE LIFE GAMES Our Under 13 A Boys team were placed first at the trials for the Love Life Games, so they represented KwaZulu Natal at the Inter Provincial Love Life Primary Schools Tournament. Our battery of Rohan (pitch) and Caldon Adams (catch) proved to be a winning formula, as most teams felt quite intimidated by their abilities. The batting talent of the learners improved with every practice and game. The following boys represented Glenmore at the Love Life Games, during the October holidays, against all the top schools in South Africa: Rohan Adams, Caldon Adams, Sabelo Mthembu, Wesley Koekemoer, Adam Gouws, Daniel Wells, Jarryd Hunter, Gcobani Ceza, Vukile Dlamini, Lwazi Xaba, Derrick Ntshangase, Siyanda Gcwensa and Andile Ngidi. Head Coach: Mr. Rory Adams Assistant Coaches: Mrs. Charné Adams & Mr. Mike Chamberlin A big thank you to Mr. Rory Adams and Mr. Mike Chamberlin for the time and effort they gave to the boys before and throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the boys on a very successful and exciting tournament. Lakyn Adams was the team mascot and Brandon Adams was the "Bat boy". A big thank you to First National Bank who donated R1000 towards the uniforms, and to Scooters who supplied the boys with supper for two nights during the tournament. We narrowly lost 12 - 10 during the final match which was televised. We came second in the Love Life Games and received SILVER MEDALS. A special congratulations goes to Rohan Adams on being the second top batter of the tournament. Well done to a brilliant team effort, making Glenmore the second top U13 Boys school team in South Africa. Well done once again on a very successful softball season.

Report on girls softball by Anele Kweyama The softball season has been incredibly exciting, fun and challenging for the girls. The girls had a lot of team spirit and a lot of encouragement from their wonderful coaches, Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Walker. The girls played with a lot of enthusiasm and determination. They all believed that in what ever they did, they would give of their best no matter what the conditions. They had their faults, but they played as a team. In each and every game they played, they made sure that everyone of them was there for the team talks and team meetings. The girls always talked about having the right attitude to be able to do things properly. The girls gave 100% of their ability to play the sport. In the middle of the league fixtures, Miss Carter introduced the girls to Fitness Training. This then knocked some sense into the girls' brains. Time for trials came and 5 girls were asked to attend trials.....Luyanda Mthiyane, Anele Kweyama, Zekhethelo Msiya, Lungile Mchunu and Riana de Bruyn. This was a great experience for the girls. Three girls were selected to represent KZN at the Cape Town Inter Provincial Tournament in December: Luyanda Mthiyane, Anele Kweyama and Zekhethelo Msiya. This has been an honour for the 3 girls. The softball season ended very well, with the girls A-side winning all their games. This meant that the A-side won the U13 Girls Softball league for 2001. Thanks for the terrific coaching from Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Walker and also the tiring Fitness Training from the master teacher in fitness, Miss Carter. Softball is a wonderful and enjoyable sport to play BUT also remember it always requires thinking on your feet and always having confidence in yourself. Another thing to remember....always be a good sportsman/sportswoman in every sport you play.

Report by Mrs. Lucille Le Brasse We started Mini Softball in the fourth term this year and wow! ... did we have an enthusiastic bunch! Mini Softball is an exciting game. Forty eager to learn young players enjoyed every moment of the skills taught. Young Brandon Adams, who at this stage is a 'softball guru' showed the kids the rules and the do's and don'ts of the game. I was very impressed! (I learnt quite a bit from him too!) The kiddies' catching skills still need to improve and some of them batted exceptionally well. All in all softball practices were full of screams, runs, falls, catches and hard ball hitting. What an enjoyable coaching session! Our Most Valuable Player was Brandon Adams. Congratulations !
