ST. JOHN'S CE PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER SPRING 2004 (1)
Dear Parents, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and have returned to school refreshed and ready for a busy Spring term. May I take this opportunity to thank you for all your lovely presents I received at the end of term. I was overwhelmed by your kindness and had more presents to open on Christmas morning that I have ever had before. Mrs Fry and Miss Philip are both doing well after their operations and we hope to see them back at school very soon. Thank you for the many well wishes which have been passed on. BOOK FAYRE Our book fayre of last term was a huge success. Thanks to your support we have received from the Travelling Book Fayre £582 worth of free books. This has been a real life saver because as you know all schools are suffering from financial difficulties and this has boosted the amount of money which we have been able to spend on the purchase of new books this year. MEMORIAL FUND Pupils from year six visited Waterstones bookshop in North Finchley at the end of last term and enjoyed choosing £100 worth of books in memory of Jane Stephens, mother of Rosie in year six. Money for these books was donated by Mr Stephens and every year the school chooses a selection of books which are displayed in a special box in the library in her memory. TRANSFER TO RECEPTION CLASS 2004-2005 If your child is due to join the reception class in the above academic year please could you ensure that you have filled in the necessary applications forms and handed them into the office by Monday 12th January as the admissions committee will be meeting very shortly. WATER BOTTLES We now have had a new delivery of water bottles and if you wish to purchase one, price 90p, please see Mrs Walsh in the office. Please ensure that each bottle has your child's name on it as lost bottles can cause much distress! WATERPROOF JACKETS We now have a selection of sizes of waterproof jackets in the office for you to try for size and if you wish to order a jacket (price £15) please see Mrs Walsh. PLAY EQUIPMENT Please can you ensure that children DO NOT PLAY ON THE EQUIPMENT OR MUD before or after school. The school cannot provide supervision at these times and accidents can so easily happen in the damp or wet weather. DINNER MONEY At the beginning of each half term a letter is sent home informing parents of the amount of dinner to be paid for the next half term along with any debits/credits. Please can you ensure that dinner money is sent in regularly as large debts often accrue which can cause confusion over amounts owed. Cash or Cheques can be sent in. Cheques to be made payable to St. John's School. Many thanks for your help in this matter. LATENESS I realise it how difficult it is to get your children out of bed after a cosy Christmas holiday but would greatly appreciate your support in making sure that they arrive before 8.50am to avoid lots of late marks in the register. HOLIDAYS As I mentioned in the last newsletter we are now required to handle requests for holiday leave more formally so please would you make sure that you complete the necessary paperwork before making any bookings. Request forms available from the office. CLUBS A club letter is attached to this newsletter, please complete the slip and return to school. Please note that all clubs will start week comming 12th January except ART CLUB WHICH WILL COMMENCE WEDNESDAY 21ST JANUARY 2004.
