ST.
JOHN'S CE PRIMARY SCHOOL SPRING
TERM - NEWSLETTER 2 Mrs
Fry and Miss Philip have both been on sick leave during this first half
of the spring term. Both are recovering well and are returning on Monday
23rd February. Mrs
Fry's class has been covered by myself and Mrs Ikibiroglu and Miss Philip's
class by Mr Llewellyn and Mr Martin. Lynn
Holman-Fox who at present teaches music to year 1, 2 and 3 has decided
that her commitments at the LEA will prevent her from continuing here
after half-term. The Borough has found us a replacement from within the
music service, an experienced and dynamic singing teacher and musician
and she will be taking Mrs Fox's place from Wednesday 26th
February. PREMISES
The refurbishment of the reception toilets will be carried out during the Easter break and not during the half-term holiday as planned because the funding from the DFES was not given to the Diocesan Board in time. REPORTS TO PARENTS
As
a staff we have decided to trial a new system for annual reporting to
parents. This year the reports will go out at the end of the spring term.
In the week preceding this parent consultations will take place at which
parents and teachers will agree targets for their children in maths, English
and PHSE. These targets will be detailed on the reports so that parents
are fully aware. Y5 and Y6 children will be present at the consultation
meetings as we feel that by this age they should be fully involved in
discussions about their progress and the targets to aim for. RACE NIGHTThis was held last Saturday evening and was a tremendous success. Everyone who went thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the event raised £1100. I am sure you would want to join me in thanking Sian Allen and all the rest of the PTA for all their hard work, which enables the children to benefit tremendously. LABELLING
UNIFORM
We have a huge amount of lost property at the moment and it is really difficult to relocate it because most of it is not named. As a parent myself I know that children are not completely reliable in looking after their belongings and I know that school uniform is costly so please support us by labelling everything with your child's name in permanent marker. READATHON
All schools in Barnet have been approached by East Barnet School to help in their quest to raise enough money for one of their pupils to receive treatment for cancer in America. The young girl concerned is 14 years old and has had all the treatment available to her in this country but unfortunately it has not been successful. If her parents do not manage to raise enough money to send her to America there is nothing further that can be done for her in this country. East Barnet School have organised a Readathon, which will take place in the next half of this term, we will send you more details when we have them. DINNER MONEY Dinner money for the next half-term, Monday 23rd February - Friday 2nd April will be £46.40. Please make cheques payable to St. John's Primary School. MUD,
MUD, GLORIOUS MUD!! Unfortunately here at school this is not the case and we struggle every day to keep the children out of the mud. If you see yours or anybody else's child running across the mud please could you help them to remember that this will not get them into Mrs Martin's good books! JANE
