Dear Parents

Welcome back after the half term break, I hope you all had a wonderful week despite the weather.

Christmas Fayre

As you know the Fayre is planned for the 20th November at 11.30 a.m., the children are all excited about it and there is of course much to be done to get everything ready. There will be a non-uniform day this Friday and another one on the 19th November for the children to bring in gifts. We will remind the children at school but please do try not to forget, every year we have some children turning up in school uniform and they get very upset and embarrassed. Last year many of you stayed behind after the fayre to clear up, this was a huge help and meant that all those who were helping were able to get away much earlier after a very tiring day. It would be greatly appreciated if we could rely on this help again this year.

School Dinners

We have started a new initiative in an effort to ensure that the children have a healthy diet. I have met with the school cook to design new menus for the rest of this term and the children will be eating no 'junk foods' for four out of five days a week. On a Friday they will be allowed a choice of meals to include the fish finger and smiley faces variety; the aim will be to work towards no junk at all! We have had assemblies about healthy eating and are trying hard to make the children understand why they need to cut down their fat, salt, and additive intake to make sure their body stays healthy. Please support us at home in this and if they complain about lack of nuggets and chips tell them we have their best interests at heart!

If your child wants to change from school dinner to packed lunch or visa versa please remember that we need at least two weeks notice and changes may only begin at the start of half terms.

Dinner money for this half term is £62.90.  Please ensure that all dinner money is paid promptly as this reduces the administration workload.

Parking

The vast majority of you are being mindful of the safety of the children and are following the parking restrictions and requests not to use the entrance to the car park for reversing. Many thanks for your co-operation. There are however still a minority of parents who despite constant reminders are still putting their own and other children at risk by ignoring restrictions and selfishly parking at their own convenience. I have had complaints from neighbours by phone, letter and in person and I feel not only embarrassed but ashamed that our school has to be associated with such thoughtless behaviour.

Clubs

As we have parent consultations this week there will be no after school clubs. The last week for clubs this term will be week beginning Monday 28th November.

PTA AGM

This meeting will take place in the school hall tomorrow 3rd November at 8pm. Everyone is welcome; please come along to find out more about the PTA and how you can become involved. There is always so much to be done and many hands make light work.

Punctuality

Please make every effort to arrive in good time for school. It is embarrassing for the children to arrive late for registration or assembly; they may also miss important short lessons e.g. phonics and spelling which often take place early in the morning when the children are fresh. I realise how stressful mornings can be but please do all you can to support us in this.

School Uniform

We now have in stock school PE tops and jackets, water bottles should be arriving any day now.
