| ST. JOHN'S CE PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents, This is a busy time of year with many events taking place therefore it is important for you to check your e mail or child's book bag regularly to keep in touch with anything pertaining to your child.
Christmas Fayre A huge thank you to all of you who made Saturday's Christmas Fayre a huge success. The children had a wonderful day and although we do not know the exact figures at the moment a good estimate is a sum in excess of £2,000 profit. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to all members of the committee who worked so terribly hard to provide such a fantastic day. My thanks also to all of those parents who helped to set up and stayed behind to clear up spreading the workload considerably. Finally, my thanks to all of you for digging deep into your pockets and spending so generously, as a result we will be able to purchase additional resources to enhance the educational experiences of your children. Absences and Lateness Under new directives from the LEA and DfES we have been advised to monitor attendance and punctuality in a much more stringent way. Schools are being advised to put in place a new computer package that will make the whole process more efficient and ours was installed this month. Lateness will be particularly pinpointed by the new software and percentages of lateness for each pupil will be available to the Educational Welfare Officers who, as you know, inspect the registers regularly. The Government has issued new targets for attendance and punctuality and you will probably have heard via the media of new aims to make parents more accountable. I have recently met with the Educational Welfare Officer to discuss the implications of these new directives and more information will be sent out to you very soon. In the meantime please may I remind you tha
As you know this celebration takes place on Thursday 9th December at 7pm. Every year families are kind enough to allow their children to take part, it is a wonderful experience for children, parents and staff. If there are extenuating circumstances which would make it impossible for your child to attend we would be grateful if you could let us know in writing. The infant nativity takes place on Wednesday 15th December at 2pm in the school hall. Rehearsals are already under way and children and staff put in a huge effort. We would greatly appreciate it if you could arrange to come without young babies and toddlers who find it very difficult to sit quietly through the performance as interruptions make it extremely difficult for the young performers. Security of the SchoolOver the past few weeks there has been a spate of burglaries at schools in and around the Whetstone and North Finchley area. As an added security precaution each class teacher has been asked to lock their outside door after their last child has left. This will mean that entry to collect children who attend clubs will only be via the front entrance. Special arrangements have been made for the football and rugby clubs so they can enter the cloakroom area. We thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
