Dear Parents,

Behaviour before school

The playground before school is looking much calmer and safer. Well done to all the children who have been thinking of the safety of the little brothers and sisters and thank you to the parents who have been supporting the staff in reminding the children not to run around in the crowded playground before school. We just have to succeed in staying off the play equipment before school and we will be perfect!

Permission for holiday leave

Thank you to all parents who are asking for leave of absence for holidays during term time. I am grateful that you are keeping this to a minimum. Please remember to fill in a holiday request form which you can collect from the school office.

Letters explaining absence for sickness

Please remember that due to LEA guidelines and advice we will only be able to fill in registers with authorised absence marks after we have received a letter from parents explaining the reason for keeping their child at home. In order to complete our returns we also need you to note the dates of absence as well as the reason. Many thanks.

Easter Egg Swap

The children are looking forward to this immensely. We have had almost 100% of children bringing in eggs. Congratulations on your team work and support.

Sponsored Walk

We are all praying for a sunny day and lots of energetic children on Friday for our sponsored walk. Children should come to school in normal school uniform on that day, they will change into PE kits at school. All children should bring trainers and may also wear track suits if you think they will be cold.

Remember that all money goes towards an extended play area outside the DT lab. I realise that my plans are ambitious but in this new area we aim to construct a stage area and seating, maybe even with music and lights! so we need all the money we can get. So please get busy with the sponsor forms over the Easter holidays as every little bit counts.

Book Fayre

This has once again been a huge success. Many thanks for coming to buy books for your children which in turn provides new books for the school library as 60% of profit is given to us in free books.

Parent Consultations

Thank you to all the children and staff for their hard work towards this week's consultation evenings. We enjoy an almost 100% attendance from parents at these meetings, this demonstrates your dedication to your children's education and we thank you for your continued support.

School Production

This year's production will be Bugsy Malone and rehearsals will begin straight after Easter A letter will be sent at the beginning of term detailing these rehearsals and also other clubs on offer. All children from Y3 to Y6 are welcomed and encouraged to take part. Please could you see myself or your class teacher should you wish your child not to be involved.

School Uniform

Our children always look so smart and their appearance is commented upon wherever we go - please continue to send your child in correct uniform including the correct shoes. We will have school tracksuits for PE on sale next term. These are available from the school office.

Miss Philip

Miss Philip leaves us on Friday to start her maternity leave. We will all be thinking of her and look forward to seeing her bump free and with baby as soon as she is able. I know she would like me to thank you on her behalf for the many kind words and presents she has received.

Student Placement

Miss Emma See will be spending a large part of next term working alongside Mrs Fry in Y2. Miss See is a final practice student from Hertfordshire University. She has already met the staff and children and we hope she will spend a happy and fruitful term at our school.

School Teams

Well done to all the children who have represented the school this term in football, netball and chess. Many thanks also to Mr Llewellyn, Mrs Marriott and Mrs Yeates for all their hard work to get the children ready for matches.

Dinner Money

Dinner money for the first half of the summer term is £64.60. Cheques made payable to St. John's School.  Alternatively it may be paid weekly at a cost of £8.50.  May we ask that dinner monies are paid promptly as this reduces the amount of administration involved in chasing debts.  Many thanks for your assistance.

End of Term

Please do not forget that school closes at normal time at the end of this term at 3.30pm for YF and 3.35pm for everyone else. We look forward to seeing you all bright, early and refreshed on Monday 4th April. Have a great Easter break.
