St. John’s School offers Nursery places to children of three and four years of age, up to a maximum of 26 full-time equivalent places. In the event of there being more applicants than places, the following order of priorities will normally determine admission.
However, for whom this is the nearest school and who have exceptional medical or social needs which makes this school the most suitable. In the case of medical or social need the application form must be accompanied by medical or social reports from an appropriate authority, eg. medical consultants or social services. (Please note that in the event of over-subscription within any category, children living closest to the school as measured in a straight line to the pedestrian gate to the main school will be given priority). Applications for entry will be accepted after the child’s first birthday.
NB . Careful consideration will be given to applicants who have moved recently into the area if they are able to provide the Governors with evidence of regular worship at a Church of Anglican or other Christian denomination.
Parents or legal guardians accepting a place in the Nursery will be considered for a place in the main school under Criterion 1 of the Governors Admission Policy.
The Governors expect that parents or legal guardians accepting a Nursery place do so with the intention of their child proceeding to the main school at the appropriate time, subject to a place being available.
Parents or legal guardians are asked to note that acceptance of an application by the school does not represent any undertaking to admit the child into the school. All applications are considered equally according to the criteria as stated.
Normally children begin attendance at the nursery in the term after their third birthday or as soon as a place becomes available thereafter.

RIGHT OF APPEAL
Parents or legal guardians whose preference of school is not met have the right of appeal to an appeal committee. Further information about this committee and the way in which appeals are to be made may be obtained from the Clerk to the Governors.
All applications received after the closing date will be considered in line with the Admission criteria if a vacancy becomes available after the completion of the Admissions procedure.
